What is a Resume?

What is a Resume? Well I wanted to look up the terminology to see what an actual Resume was defined as and this is what I found: A Résumé is a document that contains a summary of relevant job experience and education. The Resume is typically the first item that a potential employer encounters regarding the job seeker and is typically used to screen applicants, often followed by an interview, when seeking employment. In many contexts, a Resume is short and therefore contains only experience directly relevant to a particular position. Many Resumes contain precise keywords that potential employers are looking for, make heavy use of active verbs, and display content in an unflattering manner. Read More...

Okay so when you read this doesn't it sound like a load of crap. Okay so I was thinking, if all you want me to do is feed you a bunch of crap, why would you want me as an employee. These big companies out here are looking through resumes and looking specifically for certain keywords, and why?? So that you can see that I can feed you lies! We all know that half of our Resumes are lies built on lies just so that we can secure a job, and half the time, we can't even fulfill the duties of what they require, what is the saying "Fake it til you make it" that's what my generation says. Because that's all we are doing now, faking it just to get the job and then we learn what we originally lied about.

I thought about this topic because recently my teacher discussed Resumes and I hadn't notice how a "keyword" could really change a whole sentence. Keywords will give your resume a whole new spin. I am currently working on revamping my resume and guess what...I don't even recognize myself!

So being that this is my first time having such an in depth discussion or lecture over Resumes, I was able to think long and hard about my resume and it made me realize that mine needs some fixing. So If you have not been taught how to create a resume or how to use keywords, or even where you can locate keywords, you should probably talk to someone about that. Until then, check this out and you can learn a little more than you may know. I now realize that the people who took out time to construct a professional resume are the ones who get the job. As crazy as it seems, your Resume represents you, the client doesn't even want to meet you until they meet you on paper. I guess that's good and bad, atleast we know they aren't discriminating which is good, but it's bad if your resume is poorly written and it doesn't describe the capabilities that you have because of your lack of knowledge in creating a proper Resume.

If you want to become successful in this time of recession, you need to be able to present yourself so get off your butt's and make yourself marketable, the correct way!
